Prayer of Preparation

Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness and put upon ourselves the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your son, Jesus Christ, came to visit us in great humility, that in the Last Day, when he shall come again in glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to life immortal; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Your Great Name/Forever Reign

Hear our prayers, O Lord, and, as we confess that Christ, the Savior of the world, lives with you in glory, grant that, as he himself has promised, we may perceive him present among us also, to the end of the ages; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Prayer of Preparation is from the Lutheran Service Book (Concordia, 2006) and the Benediction is from Lesser Feasts and Fasts (1994).
