Women in the Beeson community will have the opportunity to share lunch with World Christianity Focus Week speaker Diane Stinton.
Born in Angola, Diane Stinton is a Canadian from Calgary, Alberta, where she completed her undergraduate degrees (B.A., B.Ed.) at the University of Calgary and taught junior high school. She first went to Kenya with the Africa Inland Mission in 1984 to teach in a rural secondary school for national girls. Following two years here, she completed a Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S. 1987) at Regent College in Vancouver. She then worked at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya, from 1988 through 2008, initially as a lecturer in Biblical studies and as a Chaplain. She also continued her theological studies at Regent College (Th.M. 1994) and at New College, Edinburgh (Ph.D., 2001). In 2009, she moved to the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) at the Africa International University (AIU) to help launch a Th.M. in World Christianity, which has since become a Ph.D. program.
In 2011, Diane relocated to Vancouver where she is now an Associate Professor of Mission Studies & World Christianity and Dean of Students at Regent College. Before Covid-19, she returned annually to Kenya to teach in African theology and ministry. She is the author of Jesus of Africa: Voices of Contemporary Christology (Orbis Books; Paulines Publications, 2004) and various articles on African Christianity, and the editor of African Theology on the Way: Current Conversations (SPCK, 2010).
