Women in Ministry Networking + Professional Development

"Shepherding Words: Editing as a Ministry for the Church"

In order to help women thrive in ministry, the Center for Women in Ministry at Beeson will host a networking + professional development event featuring guest speaker and editor, Heather House, wife of Beeson professor, Paul House. The purpose of this event is to bring women serving in ministry together so that they can know one another and learn from one another and provide ongoing professional development. The topic for this professional development is editing as a ministry for the church.

Heather House has been a freelance editor for more than twenty years, working mainly with Christian publishers. Though she writes her own words occasionally, her professional focus is polishing others’ words. Putting her M.Div. to work in this way allows her to help strengthen and equip the church. Come get some insight into the Christian publishing industry and learn about Heather's experience producing resources like the ones used for Beeson’s classes.

Dessert and coffee will be provided.

This event is open to any woman in ministry. We will start with fellowship and networking over dessert, coffee and tea, and then move into a time of learning from Heather.

As a freelance editor, Heather House has worked on a wide variety of resources as diverse as children’s fiction and Hebrew-based Old Testament commentaries. Most recently, she served as the Associate Editor of the English Standard Version Concise Study Bible. House earned a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an M.Div. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She and her husband, Paul House, live in Birmingham, Ala.
