Effective July 30, following new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), Samford University is requiring all persons on campus, regardless of vaccination status, to wear face masks in all public indoor settings.

Dr. Małysz will examine Martin Luther the preacher. We will examine not only Luther’s fundamental concepts that underlie sermon preparation, concepts such as law and gospel, Luther’s understanding of the gospel as promise, as well as faith, which is what the sermon always aims at. We will also look at some of Luther’s own preaching, focusing in particular on his sermons’ dramatic character, with the hearer caught up into God’s world that opens up in the sermon.  Complimentary lunch is included. Registration is required.

Join us on campus this fall for the Text to Sermon lecture series in October. "Back to the Future: Examining Sermons from the Christian Tradition" is this fall's theme as four Beeson faculty members explore the sermons of great preachers of the past.
