The Robert Smith Jr. Preaching Institute is glad to offer a day with a Beeson faculty member and author, Gerald R. McDermott, as he discusses his book, Everyday Glory: The Revelation of God in All Reality

Jonathan Edwards (1703-58) is widely recognized as America’s greatest theologian and Christianity’s premier theologian of beauty. This book is the first-ever unpacking of Jonathan Edwards’s typological view of reality. It unpacks the ways that Edwards saw God’s glory in every aspect of the creation. McDermott has separate chapters on how God displays his glory in the following: nature, science, history, law, animals, sex, sports, and the world religions. This event is aimed to help pastors think and talk about God’s glory in creation as well as redemption, and on the special meaning of Easter resurrection as the vindication of that glory.

Gerald R. McDermott joined the Beeson Divinity school faculty in 2015 as the Anglican Chair of Divinity and teaches in the areas of history and doctrine, world religions, Anglican studies and Jonathan Edwards. An Anglican priest, he also serves as a teaching pastor at Christ the King Anglican Church

Participants will receive a copy of McDermott's book, Everyday Glory: The Revelation of God in All of Reality. Refreshments and lunch are also included.
