Beeson Divinity School’s Global Center will host its annual Go Global Missions Emphasis Week next week, Oct. 8-10. Go Global offers students an opportunity to engage missions representatives from all over around the world and to hear from nationally renowned global missions speakers.

The keynote speaker for next week’s Go Global is Miriam Adeney, associate professor of World Christian Studies at Seattle Pacific University. She is an anthropologist, missiologist and author whose passions include global Christianity, world religions, gender, oral art genres, economic community development, multiethnic ministry, diasporas, training writers for publication and preparing workers for cross-cultural living. During her time at Samford, she will elaborate on insights from her book, Refugee Diaspora: Missions Amid the Greatest Humanitarian Crisis of the World.

“Dr. Miriam Adeney is one of the more experienced and skilled communicators in the world of missions,” said David Parks, Global Center director. “She is not only academically qualified to speak on topics ranging from World Christianity to the global refugee crisis, but she is also engaging and winsome. I'm greatly looking forward to hearing her share God's heart for the nations with Samford University in general and Beeson Divinity School specifically.”

Dr. Adeney will speak in both Reid Chapel and Hodges Chapel during community worship on Oct. 8. On Oct. 9 she will give a lecture entitled, "Stories Behind the Stories: Refugees and Worldwide Christians." During Go Global, students will be able to explore mission opportunities as well as meet representatives from more than 30 missions agencies at the two-day Go Global Missions Agency Exhibition in Harry’s Coffeehouse, located in the University Center.
