Beeson Divinity School’s Lay Academy Announces Fall, Jan Schedule
Beeson Divinity School’s Lay Academy of Theology at Samford University has announced new courses for fall 2019 and one course for January 2020. The theme, “Words of Life” taken from John 6:68, focuses on the Word of God and its relationship to the Christian life.

A new lecture series at Samford University Sept. 9-11 will bring some of the greatest minds in Christian academia to explore research at the intersection of faith and higher education.

Beeson Divinity School’s Founding Dean Congratulates ‘Class of Perseverance’ in Last Address as Dean
Five students graduated with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies degree. Nine students graduated with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree, and one graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree. Two of the M.Div. graduates received a missions certificate and one received an Anglican certificate. Dean Timothy George, who retires as dean June 30, was recognized for his 31 years of service that evening following commencement during a tribute dinner. He will be succeeded by Douglas A. Sweeney July 1.

Beeson Divinity School’s Second Annual Anglican Theology Conference to Discuss ‘Jewish Roots of Christianity’
The Institute of Anglican Studies at Beeson Divinity School will host its second annual Anglican Theology Conference, Sept. 24-25. This year’s conference, “Jewish Roots of Christianity,” will bring in leading scholars to present cutting-edge research on the campus of Samford University.

Douglas Sweeney Named Dean of Samford’s Beeson Divinity School
Samford University is pleased to announce the appointment of Douglas A. Sweeney as the second dean of Beeson Divinity School, effective July 1, 2019. The appointment was announced April 5 by Samford Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs J. Michael Hardin.
